🤝 Icebreaker Activity: Introduce Yourself

Welcome to the first activity! This icebreaker activity is designed to help you get to know your fellow students and build connections within the Digital Literacy Skills community. By sharing a little about yourself, you'll begin to form a network that can support you throughout your studies.

🛠️ Activity Instructions

Step 1: Access the Introduce Yourself Discussion
  • Open the Microsoft Engage community:

  • Sign in:
    • Use your myLife account credentials (as guided in the Activity Requirements Section)
  • Navigate to the discussion:
    • Find the "Activity: Introduce Yourself" discussion thread
    • Or visit directly: https://bit.ly/unisadl1
    • Or scan the QR code below:

Step 2: Introduce Yourself
  • Start your introduction:
    • In the "Introduce Yourself" discussion, click the "Write a comment" box to start your introduction
    Write a comment interface
  • Include the following in your introduction:
    • Your name and where you're from
    • Your field of study or major at Unisa
    • Why you are participating in this Digital Literacy Skills program
    • Any personal or professional goals you hope to achieve through this course
    • A fun fact about yourself or a hobby you enjoy
  • Record a video introduction:
    • Click on the record icon at the bottom of the comment box
    • Remember to click the Allow option to grant access to your camera

    • Record a 1-2 minute video sharing the same information listed above
    • Add a brief text description or title to your video to introduce it to others
Step 3: Engage with Your Peers
  • Read and watch peer introductions:
    • After posting your introduction, take some time to read and watch the introductions from your peers
  • Connect with others:
    • Reply to at least two other students' posts to welcome them and find common interests or goals
    • This is a great way to start building your community

🎯 Activity Goals

  • Get Acquainted: Learn more about your fellow students and start to build a sense of community within the Digital Literacy Skills program
  • Practice Engagement: Begin using the Microsoft Engage platform and get comfortable with posting and interacting with content
  • Express Yourself: Share your motivations and goals, which can help you stay focused and motivated throughout the course
