The four learning units collectively explore the transformative role of mobile-first design and mobile technologies in enhancing digital experiences, particularly in South Africa. Unit 1 emphasizes mobile-first design as a vital strategy for inclusivity and accessibility, especially where mobile internet dominates, supported by responsive frameworks and used across education, banking, and government services. Unit 2 focuses on how mobile devices support Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) at UNISA, offering flexibility and access while highlighting challenges like data costs and connectivity. Unit 3 introduces the Microsoft 365 Mobile App as a comprehensive productivity tool that integrates essential applications and AI features to streamline academic and administrative tasks. Unit 4 explores the Create function in Microsoft 365 Copilot, showcasing how AI enhances content creation and device management, turning mobile devices into efficient hubs for learning and collaboration.
This masterclass focuses on the use of mobile devices for learning. This intervention will prioritise basic mobile literacy, using mobile devices for online learning with UNISA and using productivity tools and apps such as Microsoft 365. In addition, the intervention will be grounded on individualized m-learning and socialized m-learning.
