Dear Student,

What does Digital Humanities mean in a South African context β€” and what could its future look like?

You’re invited to watch the inaugural Digital Humanities Cluster Summit 2026 live on Facebook from the University of South Africa. Tune in to a national working gathering focused on shaping the future of Digital Humanities in South Africa and its contribution to the broader African knowledge landscape.

MORE THAN A CONVENTIONAL CONFERENCE

An African-centred future for Digital Humanities.

The Summit brings together researchers, educators, students, institutional leaders, practitioners and policy stakeholders in a collaborative, outcomes-driven process organised around thematic working groups.

Its principal planned output is a National Framework for Digital Humanities in Africa, placing African epistemologies, languages, histories, communities and knowledge systems at the centre of the field’s future development.

Whether your interests lie in education, media, archives or African knowledge, follow a summit that connects these fields β€” and explore the themes that speak to your studies.
