Entering and Editing Text

Let us practice entering and editing text by changing some of the text in the document. This will help you to get familiar in using the mouse and keyboard to select, remove and enter text into an MS Word document.

Activity Steps

Complete the following steps to copy in the example data:

1 Copy the starter text from the linked file below.
2 Open the browser window with the Assignment Word document.
3 Paste the copied data into the document by pressing Ctrl and V simultaneously on your keyboard. The text will now be copied into the document.
4 On the open Word Basic Starter Document, change the Module Code (ENG1501), Assignment Number, Unique Number (0000000), Name (John Doe), Student Number (396 9977 9) and due date (Current Date) to your own information.


Note 

To delete text: 

  • place the cursor before or after the text to be deleted
  • to delete the text after (to the right) of the cursor, use the Delete key
  • to delete text before (to the left) of the cursor use the Backspace key
