Sharing a document

You might want to share your document with other people for input or collaborative work. The best way to share a document is through a link as this will not create multiple copies of the document but will instead link to the original document on which changes will update immediately.

Activity Steps

Lets share our document with an editable link:

1 Click on File from the quick access bar.
2 Click on Share from the left navigation menu.
3 Select Share with people from the available options. This will open the sharing options dialog.

You will notice that the default selection is Anyone with this link can view, meaning anyone that clicks on the link will be able to open the document, but not edit it. If you want to provide editing rights, you have to click on the Anyone with this link can view option and change the access to edit.

Note: You might see a little calendar icon next to the text that indicates there is a time constraint to the access. At Unisa this is set to a maximum of one year for security purposes.
