Someone allocated in a group task does not complete it in a way that satisfies other group members, e.g. some information is missing, the information presented is of poor quality.

What would be some of the strategies / solutions you will implement to address this challenge?

The person who is not performing well needs to be paired with a skilled member. Then start to use a collaborative app so that all members see the progress and also intervene on time. To improve the situation, there should be more cohesion and sharing so that everybody moves at the same pace and improve the quality of work. Training and more technology assistance might help

The teamwork must be implemented. As team they should firstly brainstorm on what was supposed to take place, who was responsible for each task and the deadline. After all tasks completed by each, then they should have sited down to do wrap up while correcting the errors before the given deadline for submission, therefore to submit the correct presentation on time.

I believe if a person performs poorly, it is upon the team manager to address the issue with the individual and not on the group. Once the agree on it a suggestion on the way forward can be suggested and the group engaged. That person can be paired with someone with more experience to produce a good quality work.

It is the team leader's responsibility to see to it that everybody does their part to make success of the groupwork. If somebody is struggling to do the task, then he/ she needs assistance, but the person should not be called out on it. because people who work in a group need to support and encourage one another.

if a member in the group does not have enough information the problem should be discussed by the group and i suggest that that member should be assisted by someone who has more information in the group and help the them to find more information on the project either than them being kicked out of the group, because for some it might not be the lack of collaboration being the reason to them not having enough information but it could be that they lack of access to the information needed

1Clear Expectations: Establish clear expectations from the beginning regarding the quality and completeness of the work. Communicate the importance of meeting these standards to ensure the success of the project.

2Define Roles and Responsibilities: Ensure that each group member has a clearly defined role and responsibility in the project. Clearly communicate the specific tasks, deadlines, and quality standards associated with each role.

3Regular Check-Ins and Progress Updates: Schedule regular check-ins or progress updates to monitor the status of the project. During these sessions, allow group members to share their progress, address any challenges, and provide feedback to one another.

4Peer Review and Feedback: Encourage a culture of peer review and feedback within the group. Assign a peer or multiple peers to review each group member's work before submission. Provide specific guidelines or a rubric for the review process to ensure consistency and fairness.

Group members and team leader needs to do the following:
There are likely to be two or more positions within the group and the role of the chairperson is to summarise these and then allow group members to vote on which option they prefer.

This can be done publicly, but is often best done privately and in writing as the voting preferences of some members might be influenced by the dominant personalities of others in the group.

One approach would be to briefly adjourn the meeting to give everyone a chance to think the issues over, but then ask group members to return after a break and to vote to reach a majority view.

The first step is to ask a few questions that will explain the poor quality of his/her submission. If we discover that it was lack of knowledge, then that person would have be offered support in a form of advise or another person can requested to assist. If the issue was due to other reasons either than knowledge than we may consider giving more time to that person provided the poor performance was not intentional.

First and most importantly, it is necessary to understand the person and the problem/challenge they are facing. and build one's strategy around that.

If they are just disinterested and lazy, then one can try to motivate them and challenge them in a way that makes them interested.
If they are being excluded from the group for some reason, try to be more inclusive towards them.
If they are going through some personal challenges at that stage of their life, try to support them as far as possible and assist them if necessary, without taking over the responsibility.

Re: Activity: Colaboration Considerations

by Deleted user -
Before confronting the member, try to identify the reason why they have not completed the task in the way which was agreed upon. It is important to firstly set clear expectations before assigning a member work to do, and to make sure that everyone understands. This will also give the member an opportunity to advise if they are unsure of certain tasks/expectations... When a member has completed a task in an unsatisfactory way, it is crucial to give them respectful feedback and, in some cases, offer assistance if they are unsure of how to resolve the issue.

Firstly I would try to identify if the person understood what was required of them. I would then ask the person to discuss if they had any challenges in completing the task. As a group we could assess together the parts of the task that were completed satisfactory and commend the person on that, then we will outline the areas that needed further attention without discouraging the person. If time will permit, I would ask the person to go back and rework their task with the points that were discussed and encourage them to ask for help if they have any trouble.

Communication: I prefer to initiate a private and non-confrontational conversation with the team member to understand their perspective and any challenges they may be facing. Clearly communicate the group's expectations and the impact of incomplete or poor-quality work on the overall project.Provide constructive feedback. Offer specific and constructive feedback on the aspects that need improvement. Focus on the content, structure, or any missing elements rather than personal criticism. Encourage a growth mindset, emphasizing the opportunity for improvement.

I would firstly identify if this person who did present their work of poor quality understood the assignment of their part which they were meant to complete, then I would identify if this person struggled in any way or needs assistance. My first strategy would be to explain the outcome that is needed of their part of the task and then ask kindly for them to spend time on this and correcting their section to what was agreed upon when the tasks where first assigned. If this does not present as a solution definitely discuss with the rest of the participating group members to get this section done in an acceptable manner so that we can meet the deadline of our assessment. Also to avoid such situations is doing regular check ins with everyone and ensure that everyone who has agreed to a specific task, that they are on track and hopefully they will present with honest feedback so that those who can assist can do so accordingly.

Work in a group is not about you but all the members. Using the technique BRAINSTORMING to hear everyone’s ideas or perspective on that specific topic. Then note down the information and sharing it amongst others, those of poor quality would be paired with the other members that are on track to better each other and the group. Keep on track with the collaborative app to see if there’s any progress and if there is continuously practice and on the day to present the group would ace their presentation.

As a leader keep your head up. There are ways to resurrect the teamwork, trust, and focus among your team members. But it will take some work.you are probably familiar with the times when nothing seems to be going for your team projects don’t come together, laughter feels forced, and energy levels are really low. Usually at this point you have no idea what you should do.Get to know your team, understand their motivations and what makes them tick. Work as hard or harder than any of them so that they view you as a trusted member of the team, rather than just the leader.

If a team member didn't complete a task as requested, addressing it carefully is important.

Instead of pointing out the mistake directly to the individual, which might make them feel attacked, you can turn it into a learning opportunity for the whole team.

Highlight the issue as a general lesson, explaining how to avoid similar mistakes in the future.

This approach helps ensure that everyone benefits from the feedback without singling out or embarrassing anyone.

Additionally, pairing the underperforming individual with someone more experienced can help improve the quality of their work and contribute to better overall team performance.

When a team member delivers subpar work, such as incomplete or low-quality tasks, several strategies can help address the issue:

1. Open Communication and Feedback: Have a constructive conversation to understand the reasons for the poor work, provide specific feedback, and offer guidance for future improvement.

2. Reassign Tasks: If needed, redistribute the work or pair the underperforming member with someone who can offer support and mentorship.

3. Set Clear Expectations: Clearly define tasks, provide detailed instructions, and schedule regular progress reviews to ensure everyone is aligned and issues are identified early.

4. Provide Training: Offer resources, training, or templates to help the individual improve their skills and meet task expectations.

5. Collaborative Revision: Work together to improve the final product, providing feedback and assistance where necessary.

6. Reflect for Future Projects: After the task, evaluate the process and establish accountability systems to prevent similar issues in the future.

7. Foster a Growth Mindset: Encourage ownership and view mistakes as learning opportunities, focusing on solutions and improvement.

These strategies ensure that immediate issues are addressed while promoting continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration within the team.

Sometimes people underperform when they really don't mean to, so it is important to not judge too quickly and to handle the situation with empathy and understanding. To address the challenge of a group member not completing a task to the satisfaction of other group members, several strategies can be implemented. Firstly, private feedback can be provided to the group member, highlighting specific areas for improvement, and clear expectations can be reiterated to ensure everyone is on the same page. Additionally, task reassignment or breakdown into smaller chunks can be considered, along with deadline extensions if necessary. Implementing peer review, quality checklists, and group evaluations can also help ensure that tasks meet the required standards. Furthermore, preventative measures such as clear task descriptions, careful group member selection, and regular progress updates can help mitigate such issues from arising in the first place.

Here are some strategies to address the challenge:

Clear Communication
1. *Discuss concerns*: Openly discuss the issues with the group member, specifying the problems and desired improvements.
2. *Set clear expectations*: Re-establish clear expectations for the task, including quality standards and deadlines.

Task Re-allocation
1. *Re-assign tasks*: Consider re-assigning the task to another group member or dividing it among multiple members.
2. *Provide guidance*: Offer guidance and support to the struggling group member to help them improve.

Quality Control
1. *Peer review*: Establish a peer review process to ensure that all group members review and provide feedback on each other's work.
2. *Regular check-ins*: Schedule regular check-ins to monitor progress and address any issues promptly.

Conflict Resolution
1. *Address conflicts promptly*: Address any conflicts or issues promptly to prevent them from escalating.
2. *Seek mediator support*: If necessary, seek support from a mediator, such as a teacher or tutor, to help resolve conflicts.

Technology Utilization
1. *Collaboration tools*: Utilize collaboration tools, such as project management software, to track progress and facilitate communication.
2. *Version control*: Use version control systems to track changes and ensure that all group members are working with the most up-to-date information.

Offer Support and Guidance – Check if the person needs help or resources to improve their work. Sometimes, a lack of clarity or confidence can affect their contribution.

Set Clear Expectations – From the beginning, outline quality standards, deadlines, and expectations to ensure everyone understands their responsibilities.

Reassign or Collaborate – If necessary, redistribute tasks or work together on weaker sections to ensure the final project meets the group’s standards.

Escalate If Needed – If repeated issues arise despite support and clear communication, involve a team leader or instructor to find a fair resolution.

 Quality Work in Group Tasks

1. Clear Communication: Schedule a meeting or send a message to the group member to discuss the specific issues with their work. Provide constructive feedback and clarify expectations.

2.Re-evaluate Roles and Responsibilities: Assess whether the group member's role was clear or if they had the necessary skills to complete the task. Consider reassigning tasks or providing additional support.

3.Establish Quality Standards: Develop a shared understanding of quality expectations for the project. Create a checklist or rubric to ensure all group members are aware of the standards.

4.Peer Review and Feedback: Implement a peer review process where group members review and provide feedback on each other's work. This can help identify issues early on and improve overall quality.

5.Additional Training or Resources: Provide the group member with additional training, resources, or support to help them improve their work quality.

6.Set Deadlines and Milestones: Break down the project into smaller tasks with specific deadlines and milestones. This can help ensure group members stay on track and produce quality work.

7.Mediation or Intervention: If the issue persists, consider involving a mediator or instructor to help resolve the issue and find a solution.

8. *Reassess the Project Plan*: If the poor quality work is impacting the overall project, reassess the project plan and adjust it as needed to ensure successful completion.

If someone doesn’t complete their part of the task properly, here’s how I’d handle it:

Have a respectful conversation: I’d talk to the person privately to understand why the work didn’t meet expectations. It could be a misunderstanding, time issues, or something else, so I’d listen and keep the tone constructive.

Offer help: If they’re struggling, I’d offer support or resources to make the task easier for them. Sometimes people need a little guidance but are hesitant to ask.

Clarify expectations: I’d make sure everyone knows exactly what’s expected, including the level of detail and quality. Setting clear deadlines and goals can also help keep everyone on track.

Redistribute tasks if needed: If the issue persists, I’d consider reassigning parts of the work to others to make sure the project moves forward without delay, while being mindful of overloading anyone.

Encourage regular check-ins: We’d have frequent updates to make sure everyone is on the same page and can address issues early on.

Open and Constructive Communication: Have a private, respectful conversation with the group member to understand why the task wasn’t completed to expectations. Discuss the specific issues (missing information, poor quality) and offer constructive feedback on how they can improve.

Clarify Expectations and Deadlines: Ensure that everyone in the group clearly understands their responsibilities, the quality of work expected, and deadlines. This can prevent misunderstandings and ensure everyone is on the same page moving forward.

Offer Support and Resources: If a group member is struggling with their task, offer assistance. This could include helping them find resources, providing guidance, or pairing them with another group member for collaborative support.

Feedback is very important in line with THINK principle to enlighten other team member who might be lost from what is expected. This has to be conducted in a respectful manner, not through judgement nor disrespect for the next person to not lose interest as one might feel discouraged from the team by sharing their point of views. Not all the people understand very fast or the same way and its important to keep on guiding each other to achieve better results.

1. *Clear Communication*: I would communicate clearly and respectfully with the group member who didn't complete the task to their satisfaction. I would specify what was missing or not up to par and ask them to revise and resubmit.

2. *Re-evaluate Task Allocation*: I would assess whether the task was allocated correctly in the first place. Perhaps the group member didn't have the necessary skills or expertise to complete the task. If so, I would consider reassigning the task to someone more suitable.

3. *Provide Feedback and Guidance*: I would provide constructive feedback and guidance to the group member on how to improve their work. This could include sharing resources, offering tips, or even working together to complete the task.

4. *Set Clear Expectations*: I would ensure that clear expectations were set from the outset regarding the quality and completeness of the task. This could include establishing clear criteria, deadlines, and check-in points.

5. *Peer Review and Feedback*: I would implement a peer review process where group members review and provide feedback on each other's work. This can help identify issues early on and provide an opportunity for improvement.

6. *Contingency Planning*: I would develop a contingency plan in case a group member doesn't complete their task to a satisfactory level. This could include identifying alternative resources, reallocating tasks, or adjusting deadlines.

7. *Encourage Open Communication*: I would foster an open and transparent communication environment where group members feel comfortable sharing concerns, asking questions, or seeking help. This can help prevent issues from arising in the first place.

Immediate Response
1. Communicate with the group member: Reach out to the group member privately to discuss the issues with their task completion.
2. Provide specific feedback: Clearly outline what's missing, what's not up to standard, and what's expected.

Re-evaluation and Re-assignment
1. Re-evaluate the task allocation: Consider re-assigning the task to another group member or re-distributing the workload.
2. Set clear expectations: Ensure the new person understands what's expected and provide necessary guidance.

Preventative Measures
1. Establish clear goals and expectations: Define task requirements, deadlines, and standards at the outset.
2. Regular check-ins: Schedule regular meetings to monitor progress, address concerns, and provide feedback.
3. Task breakdown: Divide larger tasks into smaller, manageable chunks to prevent overwhelm.

Secondly, I would encourage that we go through progress reports from group members so we can applaud all contributions and provide support and feedback where necessary. As group members they should help each other to ensure that all group members participate fully or as expected.
Group members should emphasise the group rules and offer assistance to those who need help

I believe if a person performs poorly, it is upon the team manager to address the issue with the individual and not on the group. Once the agree on it a suggestion on the way forward can be suggested and the group engaged. That person can be paired with someone with more experience to produce a good quality work.

Those are the challenges that come with working in a group. It is important to set the responsibilities, and expectations. This for me is frustrating as I take care to aim for high marks when submitting assignments. So I have the following strategies to avoid this situation:

1. Take care when choosing a group to align myself with people who have a similar work ethic. If that is not an option, then
2. Set clear expectations, assign responsibilities, and ensure we all understand what is expected of us
3. Have regular check ins to give updates
4. Team proof reads - for each others work (cause that objective eye helps)
5. One person of the team will be responsible for compiling all our work and submitting it on the team's behalf.

I think that these steps will assist in ensuring that an issue is detected earlier on, and we will be able to assist or even reprimand a fellow colleague who is not applying themselves to their fullest potential.

Assist the member by pairing them with more experienced individuals. Work together in order to achieve a common goal.

We will work as a team knowing that we should help each other cause we know we are not the same, so strong team members will work with the other members that are not doing well without judging them cause after all we are a team we want to win

I will first need to identify the problem, what causes him/her not to participate.
i will come up with a plan on how to help that person to overcome the challenge.
And then i will help the person to solve the problem by matching him/her with the active member in the group.

Team leader must implement an incentive for example , a person who gets to finish the tasks first gets a half day .

Corrective discussion must be done with the person to find out what could be the problem .

The person must be retrained again if needs be.

one person must address the person respectfully and show them where they had gone wrong without diminishing their confidence and hardwork. The group must then assist the member however they can to help them.

Sometimes in a group task, someone might not complete their part properly, maybe some info is missing, or the quality isn’t great. To deal with this, I would first give them respectful, helpful feedback and ask if they need any support. They might have been unsure about what to do or just overwhelmed.

I’d also make sure that, from the beginning, the group clearly agrees on what’s expected for each task. Breaking bigger tasks into smaller steps can also help catch problems early. If things still don’t improve, we could meet as a group, talk it through, and share the workload to make sure everything gets done well and on time.
